Fried Shrimp Breading

  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour

  • 1 cup wheat flour, optional

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal

  • 2 tsp creole seasoning

  • 1 tbsp garlic powder

  • 2 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tbsp old bay seasoning

  • 1 tbsp arrowroot powder

  • Salt

  • Pepper

  • Oil for frying

Wet batter for Frying

  • ½ cup seafood flour

  • 1 tbsp hot sauce

  • ½ cup - ¾ cup unsweetened plant milk

  • 1 tsp vegan seaweed flakes

Remoulade

  • ½ cup vegan mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp paprika

  • ⅛ cup green relish

  • 2 tsp hot sauce

  • 1-2 tsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • Pinch of salt

  • Pinch of pepper

Preparation

  1. Heat up oil for frying.

  2. In a bowl combine everything under fried shrimp breading.

  3. In a separate bowl combine ½ cup seafood flour, hot sauce, plant milk, and seaweed flakes. Stir together until you reach a funnel cake consistency. The batter shouldn’t be too thin or too thick. If it is too thick add in more milk.

  4. Start the battering process. One hand will be your dry hand and one hand will be your wet hand. With your wet hand place shrimp in the wet batter until coated thoroughly.

  5. With your DRY hand take the shrimp and coat with seafood flour. Repeat again. Do this a total of two times.

  6. Drop in the oil and cook for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. For the remoulade sauce combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and serve.

  8. Prep the sandwich in this order: remoulade sauce, shrimp, tomatoes, lettuce or kale, and enjoy!
